When tragedy strikes, it’s often impossible to know what to do.

For many people, the answer has simply been to help.

In the days since a devastating crash on Interstate 59 near Trussville claimed the lives of three members of the Butler family, thousands of dollars have poured into two GoFundMe campaigns created to support the family’s surviving children. Together, the fundraisers have now raised more than $25,000.

The July 8 crash took the lives of Dominique Butler, 32; Dquarious Butler, 29; and their 5-year-old daughter, Nai’Lani Butler.

Three of the couple’s children survived.

According to updates shared by the GoFundMe organizers, 1-year-old Noam was not injured. 2-year-old Nolan suffered a broken leg, while 8-year-old Naila remains hospitalized with severe injuries, including extensive lacerations and the loss of a limb.

No amount of money can undo what this family has experienced, but the campaigns are helping relieve some of the immediate financial burden of funeral expenses while also providing support for the children as they begin the long road ahead.
