One Less Thing to Worry About: Free Breakfast for All TCS Students This Year

Last Updated: June 16, 2026By

Here’s some good news for Trussville families as we head toward a new school year: The Trussville Board of Education has approved free breakfast for all students in Trussville City Schools for the 2026-27 school year. That means every student, regardless of income, will have the opportunity to eat breakfast at school at no cost.

For many families, mornings can feel like a race against the clock. Between finding matching shoes, signing permission slips, packing lunches, and getting everyone out the door on time, breakfast can sometimes become one more thing to juggle. This new program helps take a little pressure off parents while making sure students have access to a meal before the school day begins.

The program is funded through a state allocation and is currently approved one year at a time, with plans to continue as long as funding remains available.

Beyond the convenience for families, studies have shown that students who eat breakfast are often better able to focus, learn, and participate in class throughout the day.

The measure was approved unanimously by the board and will be available to all Trussville City Schools students when classes begin this fall.

We love seeing investments that support both students and families, and this one feels like a win for everyone.
